3 Easy Tips to Cook Smarter NOT Harder

Don’t ask me why, but I always find myself motivated to cook, clean and organize on my weekly cleanse day…today!  Cleanse days give me the focus, clarity and energy for a productive day.  On my cooking To-Do list: Jackson’s banana pancakes and prep tonight’s dinner.

I’m not Martha Stewart, I’m a (an Autism) mom keeping it real, sharing my journey and offering my learnings so you can take the shortcuts to make your life easier:-)

I have been cooking and preparing most of Jackson’s daily food for the past 5 years and am committed to serving healthy meals for my family on a regular basis.

Am I perfect?  Far from it!

My motto is from Maya Angelou, “when you know better, you do better.”  Now that I know better, I do better, and I do the best I can with what I’ve got.  I know the more cooking I do at home, the more control I have over the organic ingredients, and the better nourished my family is.

From my time spent in the kitchen cooking, I’ve developed simple systems to streamline our family’s food preparation that saves me time, money and stress!

1. Have a Plan

I know what you’re thinking…’easier said than done.’  Believe me, I get it!  I was there 5 years ago, a deer in headlights, overwhelmed at the thought of getting all of Jackson’s food made ANNNNND a healthy dinner on the table.  I assure you, it CAN be done!  Setting yourself up for success in the kitchen is possible with a little preparation and organization.
➔have your weekly cooking tasks written down and planned out (meals & snacks)
➔shop for the ingredients needed
➔schedule in time to be in the kitchen cooking (Your big cooking/food prep day might be on the weekend or in
the morning when the kids are at school.

When you have a plan in place, you’re in control so cooking and health become a  priority!

2. Double, Triple or Quadruple Recipes & Freeze

      As long as you’re spending your precious time in the kitchen cooking or baking a recipe, why not double it?!  It hardly takes any extra time!

3. Have the Proper Kitchen Tools & Gadgets
